Reincarnation – Here Are Multiple Bible Proofs

Full maturity is obviously not attained in one 80 year life, thus the necessity of multiple lesson periods. Fortunately, God has no shortage of time – but rather, has ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD to bring His family to maturity.

Ok, I’m not going to go on a big rant about reincarnation. We are going to talk about this subject as framed by the Bible, Church history, and our God-given common sense, and no where else. Below are the 11 PROOFS that I have been able to identify so far, and leaving room for #12 when it is discovered.

PROOF #1 – Elijah To John

John the Baptist housed the living spirit that was previously known as Elijah.  Elijah, his spirit, reincarnated into the body of John.

This is one of the clearest statements which Jesus made concerning reincarnation:

For all the prophets and the law have prophesied until John. And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who was to come.” (Matthew 11:13-14)

In the passage above, Jesus clearly identifies John the Baptist as the reincarnation of Elijah the prophet. Later in Matthew Jesus reiterates it.

“And the disciples asked him, saying, ‘Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?’ Mat 17:11-13. Jesus replied, To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things. But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands. Then the disciples understood that he was talking to them about John the Baptist.

In very explicit language, Jesus identifies John the Baptist as the reincarnation of the spirit that was Elijah. The disciples of Jesus understood what He meant. This identification of John to be the reincarnated Elijah is very important when it comes to Bible prophecy. By identifying John as being Elijah, Jesus identifies himself as the prophesied Messiah. The Hebrew scriptures mention specific signs that would precede the appearance of the Messiah. One of them is that Elijah will return first.

Behold I will send you Elijah the prophet, before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.” (Malachi 4:5)

Elijah and John the Baptist

The transfiguration of Jesus, on a high mountain, is another example:

I tell you, Elijah has come, and they have done to him everything they wished, just as it is written about him.” (Mark 9:9-13)

Here Jesus again identifies John to be the reincarnation of Elijah.

Although John was the living spirit of Elijah, the previous conscious mind and memory did not remain. Reincarnation only involves the higher consciousness of the spirit. John did not have the conscious mind and past-life memories of Elijah, so John denied being Elijah. With very few exceptions, almost no one has a conscious memory of any past lives.

Jesus revealed John to be Elijah; but John denied it. Which of the two people are right – Jesus or John? The answer should be very clear. John’s denial of his own past identity as Elijah does not mean he did not have a past life as Elijah. This is especially true when Jesus claimed that John was indeed Elijah.

The following is another Bible passage which describes other people who believed John to be Elijah or some other prophet:

Now Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was going on. And he was perplexed, because some were saying that John had been raised from the dead, others that Elijah had appeared, and still others that one of the prophets of long ago had come back to life.” (Luke 9:7-8)

When we compare the physical description of  Elijah and John, we also find striking similarities:

Elijah the prophet – “He was a man with a garment of hair and with a leather belt around his waist.” (2 Kings 1:8)

John the Baptist – “John’s clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist.” (Matthew 3:4)

The many similarities between John and Elijah should not be dismissed as coincidences. Believers of the concept of reincarnation teach that personality traits can be passed on from one life to the next – even while conscious memories do not pass along.

Another interesting parallel between Elijah and John The Baptist has to do with karma. The Bible describes how Elijah had the priests of Baal killed with the sword because their sacrifice failed to catch fire, while his did. Here are the two Bible passages that describe it:

Then Elijah commanded them, “Seize the prophets of Baal. Don’t let anyone get away!” They seized them, and Elijah had them brought down to the Kishon Valley and slaughtered there.” (1 Kings 18:40)

Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword.” (1 Kings 19:1)

Having all the priests of Baal beheaded seems like a pretty radical action by Elijah. This may explain why Elijah had to pay the karmic debt for this injustice by reincarnating as John the Baptist and having his own head chopped off by the sword.

Prompted by her mother, she said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist.” The king was distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he ordered that her request be granted and had John beheaded in the prison.” (Matt. 14:6-10)

Because Elijah had people beheaded, the law of “eye for an eye” and “reaping what we sow” demanded that Elijah be beheaded. This is a good example of how those who live by the sword will die by the sword – if not in the same lifetime then in another.

PROOF #2 – Both Joseph’s

As we see above, God used His most Holy servant of the OT to ANNOUNCE His arrival – Elijah returning as John the Baptist.

In the same fashion, the man that God chose to grow the male seed, and sire the physical body of the Lord Jesus must have been pretty dang special as well.

Joseph, the youngest son of Jacob/Israel, was arguably the most BLESSED man in the Old Testament. He was his fathers favorite. Dad made him that enviable coat. Joseph began having dreams at an early age. Having and interpreting dreams was his trademark – what he is most famous for today. He could read his own and other peoples dreams. He was skilled and accurate with dreams. He became the ruler of all of Egypt due to this skill alone.

He was the ONLY son of Jacob/Israel important enough to have his bones carried 40 years in the desert, all the way to be buried in the new Promised Land. Joshua 24:32

That same spirit in Joseph is the ONLY spirit being qualified to handle the ultra-important task of getting the dreams regarding his coming son, and then how to keep this new, endangered, son alive during very turbulent early times. Only this same tried and trued spirit – Joseph – could be entrusted with such a task – to accurately receive and interpret dreams.

Joseph both ruler same as Joseph father of Jesus

Isn’t it just like God to hide the most obvious truths like this, Joseph became Joseph, right in plain view, easy for anyone to see. But we have been blinded by the traditions and teachings of men. The same spirit is in both versions of Joseph, Old Testament and New. I wrote a whole blog article just on this fascinating subject here.

VERY INTERESTING is what both Elijah/John and Joseph/Joseph have in common. Both where Old Testament SPIRITUAL TOP DOGS!!! The highest and holiest of the whole bunch. And they both shared in a common humble spirit during their second comings: He must become greater, I must become less. John 3:30

Both men simply faded out of the story, to make room for the One and Only, Father Lord Jesus.

PROOF #3 – Man Born Blind

Growing up and attending traditional Christian church services, we were NEVER told about reincarnation; it certainly wasn’t up for discussion at my church. Of course, you can hardly blame religious leaders for leaving it out of their teachings when the deceptive writings of Paul are being shouted from every rooftop: Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment. Everything they have studied and read refuted the idea of reincarnation. Most people today are completely unaware reincarnation was a common belief at the time of Christ. In fact, even Jesus’ disciples knew it and accepted it.Jesus anoints man born blind

John 9 Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.”

The disciples asked Jesus if it was this man or his parents who sinned to make him be born blind. The question reveals what they believed, for how can a man come into this world blind due to a sin if he had not lived a previous life to commit the sin? The man MUST have lived a life previously if he was possible to have sinned and now bring it to this life.

PROOF #4 – Every Eye Will See Him ReturnEvery Eye Will See The Return of Jesus, NONOrthodoxy

And here is another verse that gives CONCLUSIVE PROOF of reassignment/reincarnation in the Bible:

Revelation 1:7 – Look, he is coming with the clouds, and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him.

How can those who pierced Him, see Him return in the clouds, if they are not in new, physical bodies?

This factoid would appear to place the frequency of reincarnation on a GRAND SCALE.

Proof #5 – Who Do People Say The Son Of Man Is?

Matthew 16:13,14 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

The ASSUMPTION here is that He was previously someone else.

PROOF #6 – Opportunity To Return

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. IF THEY HAD BEEN THINKING OF THE COUNTRY THEY HAD LEFT, THEY WOULD HAVE HAD OPPORTUNITY TO RETURN. Instead they were longing for a better country — a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them. (Heb 11:13–16)

The emphasized sentence above with capitals indicates that people who die still hankering after the things of earth, will be given the opportunity to return to it. This is precisely what reincarnation is all about. This passage also says that people who consider themselves “aliens and strangers on earth” will have a city prepared for them by God. This ties in with Jesus saying,

In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.” (John 14:2)

PROOF #7 – Returning To Mother’s Womb

Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I shall return there. (Job 1:21)

How can a man return to his mother’s womb if not from rebirth into another body? Apparently Job, in Old Testament era, believed in reincarnation.

PROOF #8 – Live Again

Job 14:14 If someone dies, will they live again?
All the days of my hard service
I will wait for my renewal to come.

Live again? Job is waiting for his renewal.

Proof #9 – Church History

SO WHAT HAPPENED to reincarnation in the Church? In the year 553 A.D., 165 Church officials condemned reincarnation. Prior to that time, it had been a fundamental Christian teaching: following the trail of a conspiracy that changed the world. Read this fascinating history of the treachery and the one very evil woman behind the whole scheme, and how she pulled it off, here.

PROOF #10 – Common Sense

There is the common sense aspect. You are certainly NOT going to reach your full potential after just this 80 year life – 29,200 days. We can see the evidence of multiple previous lives by that fact that we all come out of our mothers womb with different levels of maturity, or lack thereof. There is only one place where this spiritual maturity comes from – right here on the earth plain He has put us on to learn our lessons.

Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” (Matthew 5:48)

Exactly how long do you think THAT is going to take to achieve – being perfect…? NOT one lifetime, that’s for sure!! The GOOD NEWS is that Jesus has ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD to bring His family to maturity, as originally intended. Right now is the ugly “sausage making” time of history when we (mankind) aren’t looking so glorious. Give us some time. We’ll be all right as long as we keep Dad in charge, confident that He has both the plans and the enablement to pull it off, for us, His kids.

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6

PROOF #11 – Paul

The spirit being who was clearly identified in the early church days as being the spirit of anti-christ, is the only possible option for being the False Prophet in the end times.

John the Beloved felt that he needed to address a serious error – DOCISTISM – that had cropped up in the young church, and wanted to do everything he could to stamp it out:

Heretical docetism is found expressly in Paul. For Paul writes Jesus only APPEARED to be a man and DID NOT come in sinful human flesh.

Rom. 8:3 sending his own Son in the LIKENESS of sinful flesh

Phil. 2:7 7 he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human LIKENESS.

DEFINITION: Docetism
In the history of Christianity, docetism is the heterodox doctrine that the phenomenon of Jesus, his historical and bodily existence, and above all the human form of Jesus, was mere semblance without any true reality. Broadly it is taken as the belief that Jesus only seemed to be human, and that his human form was an illusion.

They taught that the flesh of man is corrupt – by Adam, or something – and that Jesus could not put on real flesh, otherwise he would have been defiled. So Paul emphasizes the LIKENESS of human flesh.

1 John 4:2,3 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of THE ANTICHRIST, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

2 John 1:7 I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and THE ANTICHRIST.

John 1:4 “The Word became FLESH.” John wrote this TWICE SPECIFICALLY to counter the lies that Paul was spreading about Jesus NOT coming in the flesh.

More on this subject here.

You say I am MISQUOTING PAUL? Here is from the Literal Concordant:

PAUL TO THE ROMANS

“sending His own Son in the likeness of sin’s flesh”

PAUL TO THE PHILIPPIANS

“coming to be in the likeness of humanity”

Jewish Kabbalah Rabbi Reveals Reincarnation Has Been Kept Secret“.

What’s Terrifying About Reincarnation? In the Kabbalah we find precious information about our past lives, but it was kept under cover for centuries. Why? Do you remember your past life?

Many thinkers and commentators have spoken on these issues. Here, Rabbi Jacobson shares his perspective.

Orthodoxy wants you to cower in fear, to the great unknown. Jesus came to set you free with total transparency about who He is, your Father, and who you are in Him – His Son or Daughter.
