The God of the Old Testament Is The Same Spirit That Later Incarnated As Jesus

Dozens of appearances of God in the Old Testament, were the same spirit who years later would shoehorn into the newly growing fetus in the womb of mother Mary.

When reading the New Testament it is so obvious that Jesus is the God of the Old Testament.

There is only one true, universal God—the God of the Bible—and his Name is YHWH. YHWH is usually translated as LORD (all capital letters) in English translations of the Hebrew Bible, the Old Testament. Most complete Bible versions explain this translation in their forward.

Due to reverence for the holiness of God, Jews stopped saying God’s Name several hundred years BC, so the correct pronunciation of YHWH is uncertain. The Hebrew language doesn’t contain vowels, but we can assume that the first syllable of God’s Name is pronounced “Yah” because it’s found in the word Hallelujah. Hallelujah means “Praise the LORD” or, more correctly, “Praise YHWH”. Many Christians pronounce YHWH as “Yahweh”.

New And Old Testament Matching Verses

The fact that Jesus Christ is Yahweh can be easily proven when we compare the following Old Testament verses with their corresponding New Testament verses.

I AM

Exodus 3:14 – God said to Moses, I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’

John 8:58 – “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, before Abraham was born, I am!”

John’s Gospel quotes Jesus seven more times, claiming Himself to be “I am.” They include:

John 6:35I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

John 8:12I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

John 10:9I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.

John 10:11I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

John 11:25I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.

John 14:6I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 15:1I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.

Rev. 1:8 – I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Preparing The Way For The Lord

Isaiah 40:3 speaks of preparing the way for the LORD (Yahweh). Let’s compare this verse with Mark 1:3 to see that Jesus is the LORD who John the Baptist prepared the way for.

Whoever Calls Upon The Name of The Lord

Joel 2:32aEveryone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved

Acts 2:21 – Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved

Romans 10:13 – Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Isaiah’s Vision

Isaiah 6:9-10

He said, “Go and tell this people:

“‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding;
be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’
10 Make the heart of this people calloused;
 make their ears dull
 and close their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
 hear with their ears,
 understand with their hearts,
and turn and be healed.”

John 12:40-41

He has blinded their eyes
    and hardened their hearts,
so they can neither see with their eyes,
    nor understand with their hearts,
nor turn—and I would heal them.

41 Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus’ glory and spoke about him.

First And The Last

The LORD (Yahweh) refers to himself as “The First and the Last”, the same as Jesus is later referred to.

Isaiah 44:6This is what the Lord says—
Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord Almighty:
I am the first and I am the last;
apart from me there is no God.

Revelation 1:8 – “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelation 1:17When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and saidDo not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.

Jesus Was Pierced

On 4 different occasions, the Bible mentions The LORD (Yahweh), and then Jesus, being PIERCED.

  1. Zechariah 12:10they will look on Me whom they have pierced“.
  2. Psalm. 22:16  they pierce my hands and my feet.
  3. John 19:34) one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear
  4. Revelation 1:7b Look, he is coming with the clouds,”
and “every eye will see him,
    even those who pierced him

No one took Jesus’ life, rather He laid down His life, since He was an immortal man the only way He could die was to have His blood drained out of His body.

In the first Key Restored on this site, we see that Jesus Christ existed before he came to earth, His spirit being squeezed into a human fetus.

Jesus Explained Himself

And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself. Luke 24:27

Worship God (Jesus) Alone

The Old and New Testaments both teach us that there is only one God and we are commanded to worship no other gods.

Exodus 20:3You shall have no other gods before me.

Philippians 2:10-11that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Revelation 5:12,13 – In a loud voice they were saying:

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!”

13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying:

“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever!”

Name Above All Others

As wonderful as Yahweh’s Name is, there is a name which has even grander in significance and importance:

Philippians 2:9-11Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. .

Nicene Creed

At the heart of the Nicene Creed are these words: “And [we believe] in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father … .”

Jesus, the begotten Son of God, was the same spirit as God of the Old Testament.
